The genus Saxifraga, which includes about 440 species, is the largest genus on the family Saxifragaceae. It found in many parts of the world, from Tierra del Fuego to Thailand. The pictures below are all of garden plants.
The colours are very varied, from the magnificent white flowers of S callosa to the beautiful purple ones of S oppositifolia. Leaf shapes and habits are also very varied, ranging from the soft mossy plants to the harder encrusted ones.
